GSMNP 2009 Monday

Monday, September 28 - Cataloochee and Big Creek
Since the ankle was still quite sore, we did not get to do too much hiking today either, so we made the best of it, covering a lot of ground while doing some road riding. We started out driving an hour or so from Mile High Campground to Cataloochee. We then road the narrow two hour gravel road through the Park and finished up with a late lunch at the Big Creek Picnic Area.

We left the Palmer House and continued on our auto tour heading towards Deep Creek:

Lunch along the beautiful creek, really a nice spot. People were kayaking down the river and enjoying the area.
Amy Grace discovers gravel and loves it:
Not only has she show signs of dragon-likeness, but this trip she has shown likeness of being a bear and in this photo we see a young armadillo, digging her way.
After lunch we went into Waynesville to get a few more groceries and a steroid pack to speed up recovery from the gout. Returning to camp we enjoyed the view from our campsite and prepared for the next day.
